Pristine Clean versus the Cracken

Pristine Clean versus the Cracken is a comic based on the mythical creature known as the Kraken. It originates from a 12th-century Norwegian legend, possibly inspired by encounters with an enormous squid. In more recent times, this sea monster gained fame through comic books and the 1981 film Clash of the Titans. Further, the beast served as a companion to the god Poseidon. In the movie, Zeus famously commands, “Release the Kraken.”

The Winter Cracken

Today, the team at Pristine Clean adopted the creature as the Winter Cracken, symbolizing Northeast Ohio’s cycle of freezing and thawing. Moreover, it’s a fun play on words. The freeze/thaw cycle transforms concrete surfaces into ruins each winter. While the science behind this phenomenon is complex, its impact is evident in the character of Winter Cracken and his concrete cracking hammers.

It’s a lighthearted symbol for a genuinely serious issue. We enlisted a professional cartoonist Len Peralta to depict the Cracken, along with other adversaries like Gloeocapsa Magma. He’s responsible for black streaks on Northeast Ohio rooftops. Finally, there’s Winter Grime (watch video here), which represents the various contaminants accumulating on vinyl siding.

Protect Your Concrete

“Concrete is porous, when water enters those pores and freezes, it expands by ten percent. Because of this, the freezing leads to concrete fractures. That’s Winter Cracken in action, and it highlights the effectiveness of our Concrete Clean & Seal. We clean your driveway and then seal it, preventing water from penetrating and freezing. In the accompanying comic, Winter Cracken wreaks havoc on driveways in the neighborhood with his powerful sledgehammers. Cracken fails to destroy the driveway protected by Pristine’s popular Clean & Seal service. Instead, the Cracken’s own leg shatters before reaching the concrete. The right sealant makes all the difference. Furthermore, our Silane and Siloxane formula makes for the best sealant possible for your driveway.
