get it fixed before causing
expensive damage
Because of the cold winters and frequent snow falls, ice dams are a yearly danger for homes in Northeast Ohio. An ice dam is a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow from draining. As water backs up behind the dam it can leak through the roof shingles and cause expensive damage to walls, ceilings, insulation, and floors. Ice dams are formed by an interaction between snow cover, outside temperatures, and heat lost through the roof: heat escaping from the roof melts snow on the roof which runs down toward the gutters only to freeze there creating a mound of ice that traps even more water/ice behind it.
